It's Mental Health Awareness Week - Let nature into your workplace!
Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) is marked in over 150 counties at various times of the year, and this year in New Zealand, MHAW starts today with the theme Let nature in, strengthen your wellbeing - Mā te taiao, kia whakapakari tōu oranga!
It is well known that connecting with nature can lift your spirit and MHAW outlines 'Five Ways to Wellbeing' - Connect, Keep Learning, Take Notice, Be Active, Give back - which when applied, can help you to find balance, build resilience and boost your wellbeing. The MHAW campaign provides some great tools with ideas on how to apply the five concepts, to workplace situations. There's even a Workplace Challenge you can enter to be in to win a $200 morning tea for you and your colleagues!
Today is Monday and the last day of the Maori lunar calendar - Mutuwhenua, and as such, today's theme is 'connect' - with people and nature! The sun is shining so why not hold your meeting outside? Take a short walk with colleagues in the fresh air?
