Talking Pacific priorities with the Hon Minister Aupito Su'a William Sio

This week Alliance Health + (AH+) was honoured to host the Hon Minister of Pacific Peoples and Chairperson of the Governments’ Pacific Caucus; Aupito Su'a William Sio, for a discussion on the future direction to support the health of Pacific communities, the recent Wellbeing Budget and specifically, the portion of the budget allocated to Pacific Peoples.

Accompanied by Private Secretary Mauailegalu Mathew So’otaga and the Ministry of Pacific Peoples, Regional Manager Northern, Regional Partnerships, Toleafoa Ray Tuala, the Minister congratulated the work done to date and encouraged AH+ to be confident, challenge the norm, do things differently, collaborate and continue to work closely with our community.

The Minister noted that one of his priorities for health funding is increasing the Pacific workforce and nurturing the 6B Generation (Brown, Beautiful, Brainy, Bilingual, Bi-cultural, Bold) into both clinical and leadership roles - a priority in line with the work AH+ is doing with its Internship Program (with University of Auckland, University of Otago and sponsorship of TupuToa).

The Alliance Group Trusts are looking forward to working with our communities, network and providers to help realise the vision and goals of the Minister and see the implementation of relevant portions of the Wellbeing Budget.

Faafetai tele lava, Meitaki maata, Malo aupito, Fakafetai tele, Vinaka vaka levu, Monuina, Merci beaucoup and thank you to the Hon Minister Aupito Su'a William Sio for your time, your fearless courage and the continued work you do for the Pacific community.
